Кагомэ Хигураси живет в не совсем обычной семье и уж точно в совсем необычном доме – это храм, служителями-хранителями которого члены ее семьи являются с самого Средневековья. Храм и прилегающие постройки таят много секретов, каждый второй предмет из имущества Хигураси – какая-нибудь магическая штуковина с легендарной «биографией».

Однажды главная героиня, узнав от брата Соты о пропаже кота Буё, заходит в его поисках в пристройку с древним колодцем. И здесь она попадает в лапы… нет, не кота, а демона с телом сороконожки-переростка. От демона удается избавиться, но только на дне колодца. Выбравшись из него, девушка узнает, что перед ней не Токио конца 20-го века, а классическое захолустье эпохи Сэнгоку.

Совершившей прыжок во времени Кагомэ предстоит узнать, что она – реинкарнация Кикё, хранительницы деревушки, полстолетия назад погибшей, защищая камень Сикон от демона-полукровки Инуяси. Последний жив и намерен побороться за магический камешек (артефакт дает громадную силу демонам, для смертных же он бесполезен). А вместе с ним – целая орда «детей ночи» из разных уголков мира.

Уже в первых сериях «Инуяси» жизнь протагонистов и антагонистов сильно усложнится – Сикон окажется расколот на множество кусочков. С другой стороны, Кагомэ и Инуяся станут работать «в команде». Перед ними встанет нелегкая задача – отыскать все осколки Сикона. Сон Гоку и Хару Глори сотоварищи, оказывавшиеся в сходных ситуациях, по крайне мере знали, сколько артефактов им предстоит собрать: наши же герои по этому вопросу находятся в абсолютном неведении.
